The weather in Uttar Pradesh is undergoing significant changes, with several districts already witnessing rainfall and strong winds. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms and rain are expected in 29 districts of the state. The department has also issued a warning for strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 50 km/h.
As per Atul Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, eastern Uttar Pradesh will remain cloudy for the next 24 hours. On March 21, around 30 districts may experience light rain, lightning, and thunderstorms. Districts including Lucknow and Barabanki may witness winds blowing at 30 to 50 km/h.
Meteorologists predict that rain and gusty winds will continue in southern-eastern and western parts of the state until March 22. From March 23 onwards, the weather is expected to clear, with a gradual increase in temperatures.

Risk of Thunderstorms and Lightning (March 21): Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kushinagar, Kanpur Nagar, Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and nearby areas may experience thunderstorms with light rain.
Strong Wind Alert (40–50 km/h): Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kushinagar, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, and Ambedkar Nagar may experience winds at speeds of 40–50 km/h.
Moderate Wind Alert (30–40 km/h): Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur, and surrounding areas may face winds blowing at 30–40 km/h.
New Western Disturbance Expected on March 24: According to IMD, a new western disturbance will affect the Himalayan region on March 24. This may lead to another change in weather conditions across many parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Banda Records Highest Temperature in UP: On Thursday, Banda was the hottest district, recording a maximum temperature of 37.8°C, which was 1°C higher than Wednesday. In contrast, Bahraich recorded the lowest temperature at 12.8°C. Gradually, temperatures are rising across the state, including in the capital city Lucknow.
Uttar Pradesh will experience unstable weather for the next few days, with thunderstorms, rain, and strong winds in several districts. While the weather may clear from March 23, another western disturbance may cause fresh changes from March 24.
