The rising temperatures in the region have become a major concern for farmers. According to the meteorological department, temperatures are expected to continue increasing in the coming days. In such conditions, proper care of vegetable and horticultural crops has become essential. Agricultural experts have issued important guidelines to help farmers protect their crops from the adverse effects of heat.

Essential Measures for Tomato, Chili, and Brinjal Crops:

  1. To protect crops from extreme heat, prepare a 2% Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) solution and spray it. This will prevent growth disturbances in the fruits.
  2. Irrigate regularly and maintain soil moisture to reduce the impact of heat.

Care Tips for Mango and Lemon Orchards:

  1. Avoid irrigation during flowering, as it can hinder proper fruit development.
  2. Monitor mango orchards for pests such as mealybugs and leafhoppers, and apply suitable insecticides if necessary.

Pest Control for Brinjal Crops:

  1. If shoot and fruit borer infestation is observed, collect and destroy the affected fruits and branches immediately.
  2. In case of severe infestation, spray Spinosad 48 EC (1 ml per 4 liters of water) for effective control.

Precautions for Vine Crops:

  1. For Powdery Mildew disease, spray Dinocap 48 EC (1 ml per liter of water) or Difenoconazole (0.5 ml per liter of water) as a preventive measure.
  2. To control sucking pests, use Dimethoate (2 ml per liter of water) or Acephate (1.5 grams per liter of water).

Thrips Control in Onion Crops:

  1. If thrips infestation is detected in onion crops, spray Imidacloprid (0.5 ml per liter of water).
  2. For better results, mix an adhesive agent like Teepol (1 gram per liter of solution) in the insecticide solution.

During hot weather, farmers must focus on regular irrigation, proper pesticide application, and supplying adequate nutrients to their crops. By following these agricultural expert recommendations, farmers can safeguard their yields and minimize losses effectively.
