Heatwave Returns to Delhi-NCR: The scorching heat has returned to Delhi and its surrounding regions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh spell of heatwave began on April 16 in the national capital. This spell is expected to continue for at least two days, followed by a brief relief of one day, and then another three-day heatwave is likely. The maximum temperature is expected to hover between 40°C and 41°C, while the minimum may settle around 25°C. Between April 16 and 20, a strong Western Disturbance will be active over the western Himalayan region. It is expected to peak on April 18 and 19, causing rain and snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Its effects will also be felt in the northwest plains, which may experience thunderstorms, rainfall, and lightning.
Eastern India is also witnessing sudden weather changes. Heavy rain is expected in Bihar on April 17, and from April 20 to 22, many districts may face thunderstorms and lightning. The Gangetic plains could experience strong winds and lightning strikes. Similar weather conditions are also expected in West Bengal on April 17 and 18.
Northeast India on Alert:
The northeastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh, there is a continuous threat of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Between April 17 and 22, these regions could witness intense lightning and downpours. Residents are advised to remain alert and take precautions.
Rain and Strong Winds in South India:
The southern states including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Karnataka are also expected to experience weather disturbances. Winds may blow at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h, accompanied by light to moderate rain. This may impact crops and daily life in affected regions.
