The Uttar Pradesh government has provided major relief to farmers in the ongoing wheat procurement season. Now, registered farmers across the state can sell up to 100 quintals of wheat at government procurement centers without undergoing any verification process. This move is aimed at ensuring farmers don’t face hurdles due to verification errors or documentation issues.

Sell Up to Three Times the Estimated Production Capacity:

Addition to this, the state government has allowed farmers who complete the verification process to sell up to three times their estimated production capacity. This special provision will benefit farmers whose documents may have discrepancies or delays in verification. With this, farmers can sell their entire crop with ease and without the fear of rejection.

How to Renew Registration:

According to the Food and Logistics Department, farmers can renew their wheat sale registration through the fcs.up.gov.in portal or by using the UP Kisan Mitra mobile app. This online process enables farmers to register or renew from the comfort of their homes without needing to visit offices.

Wheat Procurement Status (As of Saturday, 3:10 PM):

  • Registered farmers: 3,77,678
  • Farmers who have sold wheat: 39,006
  • Total wheat procured: 2.06385 lakh metric tons
  • Procurement centers in operation: 5,804

₹20 Extra Per Quintal Along with MSP: Addition to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹2425 per quintal, the government is also providing an additional ₹20 per quintal. This extra amount is meant to support grading, cleaning, and sorting activities, thus increasing profitability for farmers.

Procurement Centers Open 12 Hours Daily:

To further assist farmers, procurement centers are open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, including on holidays. In many areas, weighing stations have been set up close to harvest sites to minimize the time and effort needed by farmers.

Help and Support for Farmers: Any farmer faces challenges during the procurement process, they can reach out to the toll-free helpline at 1800-1800-150. Alternatively, they may contact the district food marketing officer, regional marketing officer at the tehsil level, or the block marketing officer for immediate assistance.

Tenant Farmers Also Eligible: Progressive move, tenant farmers (batai-dar) are also eligible to sell their crops at government procurement centers. They can also register on the spot at the center and proceed to sell their crop immediately.

This new system from the Uttar Pradesh government is a significant step towards simplifying the wheat selling process, minimizing delays, and ensuring better profits for farmers. Timely action, digital access, and wider eligibility are set to make wheat procurement smoother than ever before.
